Northern HV Inaugural Charity Golf Day 2026!

Hartlepool-based Northern HV celebrates inaugural charity golf day at Seaton Carew Golf Club in aid of Alice House Hospice.

Players travelled from across the country to take part, highlighting the strength of the firm's new partnership with Seaton Carew Golf Club, regarded as one of the top 50 courses in the country.

Based at the Innovation Centre in Hartlepool, Northern HV became proud sponsors of the golf club earlier this year, supporting its men’s, women’s and junior teams.

Chris Thomas, director and co-founder of Northern HV, said: “Holding our very first charity golf day at Seaton Carew Golf Club was a milestone moment for us.

“As proud sponsors at the prestigious club, we are thrilled to see this partnership flourish. It was really important for us to link up with the club right on our doorstep, just a short drive from our headquarters.

“The link between our local business and this historic local club made it the perfect venue for such a special occasion.”

The event successfully raised over £1,300 for Alice House Hospice. Greg Hildreth, representing the charity, was there early in the day to mix with the golfers and teams before they teed off.

Greg, the business and communications manager at Alice House, said: “We are incredibly grateful to Northern HV for choosing to support the charity in this way.

“Occasions like this are so important, not just for the vital funds raised, but for the chance to work closely with our corporate partners and the wider community who make our care possible.”

And Chris Parker, the QHSE manager at Northern HV, who organised the event, said: “First of all, I’d like to say a huge thank you to everyone who joined us for the inaugural Northern HV Golf Day, and to Seaton Carew Golf Club for helping us host what turned out to be a fantastic event.

“One of the main values we have as a business is creating local opportunities for local people. We’re very community-orientated, so it was brilliant to welcome so many of our industry friends, clients and partners to Hartlepool and showcase a little bit of what the local area has to offer.

“A particularly important part of the day was raising money for Alice House. It’s a fantastic local charity that has personally supported the families of people within Northern HV, so it’s an organisation that is very close to our hearts.

“The generosity shown by everyone was incredible and, together, we raised over £1,300 for a wonderful cause. We can’t thank everyone enough for getting behind it.”

As for the golf, there were eight teams competing in a four-ball Texas Scramble format, with plenty of refreshments out on the course.

Chris said: “We had a blast. The format allowed us to have a laugh and build stronger relationships away from the usual working environment.

“The competition was much closer than we expected! Congratulations to our overall winners, Gavin Lumley, Andrew Moss, Jonny Durnion and Michael Screen, who eventually took the title following a putt-off after Andy Smallwood’s team also posted an unbelievable seven-under-par score.

“There was definitely a bit of a theme to the individual prizes too, with Gavin taking Closest to the Pin and Andy, also a director here at Northern. HV, winning the Longest Drive. Only one player managed to Beat the Pro all day – and thankfully he happened to be in my team – so a massive congratulations to Paul Edwards!

“Unfortunately, nobody managed the elusive hole-in-one, but we’d like to give a huge thank you to Vertu BYD Hartlepool for supporting the event and supplying a fantastic car as the hole-in-one prize. Maybe someone will take it home next year!”

Chris added: “Overall, the day was a huge success and, on behalf of everyone at Northern HV, I’d like to thank every person and organisation who played a part in making it happen.

“It was exactly what we wanted the Northern HV Golf Day to be – good golf, plenty of laughs, stronger relationships and, most importantly, an opportunity to give something back to our local community. We’re already looking forward to doing it all again.”
